Replaced timing chain and installed new tensioner (vice the old one that failed) on my 2012 A4 B8 with 85K miles. Reassembled per specs with all timing marks correct. Now when i tried to startnothing. fuel pressure good.
This is the tensioner that is the main stream one found in majority of the 2.0T short block: The first 9 characters is the part number of the tensioner. The "IT" you see, in the picture, is the country code it was made in; this one is made in Italy. In the upper, right corner you will noticed an engraved/stamped 'T'.
I have heard it is expensive also, since they have to pull the motor and transmission to replace. Cheers, Chuck. Yes, the motor and tranny do have to come out. On our cars the timing chain is at the back of the engine so therefore to get to it everything has to come out. And yes, timing chains should not got out at 75 or even 150.
The car's at 80000 kms. Some problems developed during this repair which resulted in a new fly wheel, injector clogging and eventually with traces of water finding its way into the pistons. On startup, the timing chain jumped/slipped. So the repair was repeated only for the chain to jump on the second start up as well.

S4 B8 Timing chain rattle. I have a 2010 S4 with a full service history. Lately, I have noticed that upon cold start up, the car occasionally makes a rattling noise for about 3 seconds and then sounds a bit metallic for a while. Has anyone else experienced this issue with their S4, or should I take it to the dealership for a diagnosis?
