1) When you have CC set, it will turn on if you go over the CC speed. How soon it turns on is determined by how you set "smart cruise control" in gameplay settings. 2) If you turn on "automatic retarder" in gameplay settings, it will turn on when you use the brake to help you slow down faster.

By default, semicolon (;) turns retarder on, single quote (') turns retarder off. You can reassign the keyboard keys in Options->Keyboard. More specifically: semicolon increases retarder effect, single quote decreases retarder effect. To turn it off via hotkeys, it can take multiple simultaneous presses of ' to accomplish. #4.

A retarder is braking mechanism that uses fluid to evenly distribute braking ability to all wheels on the primary mover/unit/tractor. Only to the driven wheels. Think of the retarder as a load on the back of the transmission, similar in concept to an exercise bike or rowing machine.
Re: Retarder activated. #5 by Max » 30 May 2016 22:38. retarder is activated/increased by the key just aside of L-key (semicolon key). deactivated/decresed is by the next key aside that (apostrofe key). you can also change binding to other key (s). Nobody can tell you anything about it.

Truck: Scania S. Engine: 770 hp. Ingame display: 66.0/100km. Distance Travelled: 239 km. Fuel Consumed: 159.3 L. Note: 3km distance from garage to job that may alter ingame display results a small bit. If my calculations are correct, fuel consumption is 66.5/100km which seems to be accurate enough. For the short time I was using ACC I noticed that it can override Retarder settings. For example, with Smart Cruise Control disabled (so that if going downhill truck is free to gain speed), ACC was slowing me down as soon as truck was 1 km/h above set speed. You may have not a Transmission with a Retarder, but ACC can always use your brakes ^^' z7fXg.
